 Intimate Understanding

There is nothing like the feeling we get when we are deeply understood.  It’s a soul sigh,  a slow long exhale  of gratitude.  It’s the rapid nod of certainty.  It’s the speechless grin and the impulsive embrace.  It’s the laugh out loud, shout it from the rooftops, “You get me…wooohooooo…you really get me!”

Touch his heart.  Take the hand of your lover and clasp it gently between both of yours.  Gaze searchingly into the deep pools of her eyes and ask the questions.

Listen.  Listen as if your life depended on it.   Watch the realization soften her expression.  See the recognition in the warmth of his smile.

The two meld into one.  Ahhh this is heaven.

I had such a hard time recieving such messages in the past. My wife would look me in the eye and tell me how much she appreciated some one thing I might have done. I would simply refuse to accept what she had said as sincere and important. Then one day, while we were enjoying a quiet time at our favorite place to vacation in the mountains, she found the crack in my frown. You see, I had just been told I at my workplace I could be losing my job….And, with flawless timing she walks out onto the deck where I had been sulking…She tells me how special our choice of vacation spots is…and then tells me how special we are……my heart melted….my life was renewed…my love for her increased.
